Eight-Year-Old Spreads Joy on Birthday by Donating to OSMH’s Paediatric Ward

Meet Everly, a special eight-year-old with a very big heart. Instead of the usual birthday celebrations, she decided to make a difference in the community. Inspired by her aunt, a nurse at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, and Everly’s love for her newborn cousin, Halle, she chose to give to the OSMH Paediatric department.

Kristen Dawson, Program Manager of Children’s Services at OSMH, thanks Everly and her parents, Mike and Amanda, for supporting our Paediatric Program.

In lieu of a party and presents, Everly asked her friends and family to donate supplies to patients in need.  Together, they donated baby clothes, toys, diapers, hygiene products, and so many more items to make sure our smallest patients are comfortable during their stay at OSMH.

Everly and her parents delivered the items to our Hospital and spoke with Kristen Dawson, the Manager of Children’s Services at OSMH. Kristen thanked Everly for her donations and told her how the new items would provide support and entertainment to our tiniest patients. They will assist our patients in their recovery and allow them to have some fun during their stay. The patients in the Paediatric department are kids, after all. These donations are especially important to our patients when they learn that another child is thinking of them.

We thank Everly, her family, and her friends for this generous act of kindness and we wish her a very happy eighth birthday. If you would like to fundraise for Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, please contact Heather Saba, Senior Annual Giving Officer, by emailing [email protected].
