Gear Up for Soldiers’ Ride – Biking for Better Health is Back

Orillia, ON – Registration is now open for the 2nd annual Soldiers’ Ride. On Sunday, June 2, riders of all skill levels will once again meet at Quayle’s Brewery for a day of road biking to raise critical funding for urgent care needs at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH).

Soldiers’ Ride provides avid cyclists with scenic 50 km and 100 km routes through the historic Simcoe-Muskoka landscape. In addition to the 50 km and 100 km routes, this year’s event will feature a family-friendly 20 km route.

Participants will start and end the ride at Quayle’s Brewery in Coldwater where they can enjoy a celebratory lunch paired with a local craft beer.

“We are so excited to host the Soldiers’ Ride again this year,” says Catherine Pearson, Soldiers’ Ride Venue Sponsor and Co-Owner, Quayle’s Brewery.

“Supporting the Hospital is near and dear to my heart and, as a cycling destination, hosting an event for our community of riders allows us to give back.

The event promotes active and healthy lifestyles, raising funds for important upgrades at OSMH. Last year’s inaugural event brought together over 150 cyclists and raised $107,865 for OSMH.

“Soldiers’ Ride offers a unique experience for cyclists,” said Lawre Pietras, Soldiers’ Ride Chair and OSMH Board of Directors member.

“It provides an opportunity to see the incredible landscape of our region, it promotes comradery through sport, getting outside, and celebrating achievements both personal and for the health of our community.”

Proceeds from Soldiers’ Ride will once again support areas of greatest need at OSMH.

“Designating the funds raised at Soldiers’ Ride to areas of greatest need will allow a greater opportunity to replace or upgrade essential equipment when it is needed most,” says Heather Saba, Senior Annual Giving Officer, OSMH Foundation.

Riders can participate on their own, with a team of friends or family, or as part of a corporate team. Sponsorship opportunities and registration are now available. Visit www.soldiersride.ca
