New Coagulation Analyzer Enhances Patient Care at OSMH

The OSMH Foundation is pleased to share that our hospital laboratory has received a new coagulation analyzer, purchased thanks to the generosity of our incredible community of donors.

This advanced equipment is already making a meaningful impact on the day-to-day work of our hematology team. The modern analyzer provides faster turnaround times, supports a broader range of testing, and uses fewer supplies, allowing the lab to operate more efficiently while reducing its environmental footprint.

Behind every patient diagnosis, procedure, or treatment plan, the laboratory plays an essential role. Although much of their work happens out of sight, the lab performs thousands of tests every week, supplying physicians with the critical information they need to make informed medical decisions. In fact, it’s estimated that up to 70% of medical decisions rely on lab test results, highlighting just how vital accurate and timely diagnostics are to patient care.

A significant part of this work includes coagulation testing, which helps determine how well a patient’s blood clots. These tests are crucial for diagnosing bleeding disorders, monitoring patients on blood thinners, and guiding rapid treatment decisions in emergency situations. With the new analyzer delivering results more quickly, physicians receive the information they need sooner, often helping patients move through the Emergency Department or inpatient care more efficiently.
