About the Opportunity: Board of Directors 2025-2026

The Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is seeking new members who are accomplished in their fields and will be passionate leaders for the organization, overseeing its strategic goals.

If you’re interested in joining a dynamic team focused on growing philanthropic support for Soldiers’ Hospital, this may be the volunteer leadership role you are looking for.

Who Can Get Involved?

Individuals with professional experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • All areas of philanthropy (including but not exclusive to campaigns, corporate sponsorship, grants, events, planned giving and major gifts)
  • Finance, banking
  • Executive Leadership
  • Information technology
  • Marketing & Communications
  • Business
  • Human resources
  • Hospital and healthcare
  • Advocacy

Previous experience on a fundraising Board or senior-level experience in complex organizations is preferred.

Commitment

As a Board member, you will participate in regular Board meetings (5 per year) and promote the mission and goals of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation within your network, including developing relationships with key stakeholders. In addition, each Director is expected to serve on at least one sub-committee of the Board (Governance, Finance & Audit, Major Gift & Campaign).

A time commitment of approximately 3-5 hours per month is required.

The role is a two-year renewable term and will begin June 2025.

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation raises and stewards funds to support Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). The Foundation’s mission is to support the Hospital in its quest to become a centre of excellence and an integral leader in shaping the future of healthcare for our community and our region.

OSMH is a community hospital providing critical regional health services to the population of North Simcoe Muskoka, a population of 540,000. This includes communities as far east as Lindsay, as far west as Collingwood, Parry Sound to the north, and Alliston to the south.

For a community hospital, Soldiers’ exceeds expectations in the level of care it provides to an area of this size. Regional programs include the Kidney Care Program of Simcoe Muskoka, the Regional Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre, the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre (SMRCC) Satellite Clinic, the Paediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) Satellite Clinic, the Regional Women and Children Program and the Level II Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
