New Blood Bank Fridges Keep Care Fresh at OSMH

OSMH recently purchased two new blood bank fridges, thanks to the gifts received to areas of greatest need from donors like you.

The Soldiers’ Laboratory Blood Bank stores and tests blood for blood transfusions and haematology, analyzing blood cells to provide accurate information for physicians to support the diagnosing and monitoring of patients.

The new blood bank fridge replaces the previous 23-year-old model and comes with some important safety features. The fridge will notify our health care team if the temperature falls out of range, if there are power outages, or if the door is open too long.

Our lab technologists are grateful for the new addition to their team and for the community’s support in granting this much needed upgrade.

“It’s nice to know that the community cares,” said Leighanne Judson, Medical Lab Technologist at OSMH.

“It may seem like just a fridge, but it is very important to our day to day job,” said Jason Connolly, Medical Lab Technologist at OSMH.

By supporting the areas of greatest need at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, you ensure that our hospital is able to make upgrades and advancements when and where they are needed most. Funding the areas of greatest need in our hospital supports each department in its mission to improve the health and well-being of our communities and provide excellent care for our patients.
