New Bladder Scanner Helps Guide Patient Care
Through the ongoing support of our donors, a new bladder scanner has arrived at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
A bladder scanner provides a quick, non-invasive way to check bladder function. It allows care providers to avoid unnecessary catheterizations and provides a real-time image and measurement of the bladder. This helps to improve patient safety and comfort.
The new bladder scanner at OSMH will assist in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and the Cystoscopy Clinic.
“This is going to help guide patient care during recovery.” says Dr. Derek Bos, Urologist at OSMH.
PACU nurses also noted how the updated features allowed them to easily maneuver the scanner around patients, and the information was clearly displayed.
“It has great point of care information to best treat the patient,” says Michelle Soares, OSMH PACU Registered Nurse. “It’s going to enhance our clinic to better serve patient care.”
The team is very appreciative of the new technology and the benefits it will bring to their patients.
By supporting the areas of greatest need at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, you ensure that our hospital can make upgrades and advancements when and where they are needed most.
