Celebrating Sophie, the 2023/24 Reid Family Scholarship Recipient
Sophie, a recent Twin Lakes Secondary School graduate, is the 2023/24 recipient of the Reid Family Scholarship.
The Reid Family Scholarship provides a one-time gift of $2,000 to an Orillia and area individual entering post-secondary education for a healthcare-related field. The Reid Family Scholarship is provided through the generosity of the late Mr. William and Mrs. Joan Reid. They believed in the importance of education and the need for highly trained healthcare professionals, which led to the development of this scholarship.
Sophie will be attending Nipissing University in the fall for her Bachelor of Nursing. She is passionate about science and has chosen to follow in her mother and Papa’s footsteps by working in healthcare. Both Sophie and her father, Ron, were born at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, so it meant a lot to them to receive this scholarship.
Sophie was chosen by a committee consisting of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and Foundation team members due to her commitment to the community, solid career aspirations, understanding of the financial requirements to achieve her goals, demonstrations of leadership, and dedication to her education.
Congratulations, Sophie, and we wish you the best of luck on your path toward a career in healthcare.
