The Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 18th Annual Gala raised more than any other OSMH gala before it. A $100,000 total for the evening brings the cumulative amount raised over the last 18 years to $1,000,000 for Soldiers’. The October 18th fundraiser was held at Casino Rama Resort with 325 Hospital supporters in attendance to celebrate the fiesta theme and support the purchase of Automated Dispensing Units (ADUs) for the Hospital.
“We are so incredibly happy with the outcome of Friday’s Gala,” said Marina Genua, Development Officer, OSMH Foundation. “We had so much support early on from our sponsors and our incredible Gala Committee who helped us bring the fiesta theme to life,” she added. “We are so grateful to our donors, attendees and volunteers who showed up with such enthusiasm to raise a record-breaking amount for our Hospital.”
The $100,000 raised from this event will improve medication management practices and patient care throughout the Hospital. The funds will be used to purchase medication dispensing cabinets, called ADUs, which work to reduce medication errors, improve patient and staff safety and decrease the threat of dangerous medications ending up in the wrong hands. The ADUs are part of a larger strategy to improve care and efficiency at Soldiers’.
“Our Gala is about raising awareness of the Hospital’s greatest needs and engaging the Soldiers’ community to help fill them,” said Mark Riczu, Executive Director, OSMH Foundation. “The success of this year’s event is outstanding. The $100,000 raised will have an incredible impact at the Hospital and we have our supporters to thank for this accomplishment.”
Since it began in 2002, the Hospital Gala has raised $1,000,000 in support of the Hospital’s greatest needs. In previous years, the gala has supported seniors care Paediatric/NICU renovations, the Electronic Medical Record system, cancer care and vital equipment purchases at Soldiers’.
