An Orillia couple is helping ensure their local hospital can continue delivering excellent patient care.
Bill and Donna Shaw have made a $25,000 gift toward equipment and technology at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH).
“What better way to give back to our community than investing in better equipment for our hospital,” the couple said in a statement. “We’re very lucky to have this level of care close to home, and we’d like to keep it that way.”
A portion of the donation will go toward the purchase of an Opti-Flow device for the hospital’s Integrated Medical and Rehab Services Unit.
Opti-Flow devices help deliver high flow oxygen and medical gas directly into a patient’s nostrils to ease pain and increase comfort.
“We can’t thank Bill and Donna enough for their generous donation to OSMH,” said Mark Riczu, executive director, OSMH Foundation. “Community members like them truly make the difference between a good hospital and a great hospital.”
To recognize the couple’s significant contribution to patient care, a recognition plaque will be placed in the hospital’s surgical services department.
