Oro-Medonte Deputy Mayor Scott Jermey’s fourth annual BBQ raised $4,338.05 for Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. More than 100 community members braved the rain to attend the festivities last Saturday.

Organizer Scott Jermey said he was impressed by the turnout and the community’s generous spirit. “Despite the downpour, we had a great outpouring of support for the Hospital,” said Jermey. “We’re so thankful to everyone who came out and to all the volunteers at Rugby Community Hall who made the event possible.”

The funds came from donations made by charitable BBQ-goers and will go toward purchasing much-needed equipment for the Hospital.

Marina Genua, OSMH Foundation’s Development Officer of Annual Giving was pleasantly surprised to see so many community members and volunteers dodging rain drops to show their support. “The turnout was incredible,” said Genua. “Scott and his team of volunteers did such a great job putting on this event and raising money for the Hospital.”

The fourth annual event was held at Rugby Community Hall Saturday July 13, 2019.
